Goulds Pumps helps the Big Easy stay dry with flood control pumps
If you live below sea level, controlling flood waters is a serious business. When you're bordered by the mighty Mississippi, threatened by Gulf Coast Hurricanes¿and also live below sea level¿your pumps better be reliable and able to move a lot of water.

The entire New Orleans area, including adjacent Jefferson Parish, has a topography much like a saucer. This area is surrounded by levies, so every drop of water that comes into this "saucer"¿by any means¿including rainwater, by infiltration under the Mississippi levee, or through the sand strata from Lake Pontchartrain has to be mechanically lifted out - with in excess of 50 pumps from ITT Industries...

Over 150 years ago in Seneca Falls, N.Y., Seabury S. Gould cast the world's first all metal pump. This was a major step in building a business that would grow into one of the largest pump manufacturers in the world, with more than 5,000 employees, doing business in more than 100 countries. Today, Goulds Pumps is an integral part of ITT Industries.
