4th Annual SWPA Pump Systems Training Program set for March 14-15
HIGHLAND PARK, IL, Jan. 25, 2005 -- The Submersible Wastewater Pump Association (SWPA) will hold its Fourth Annual Pumping Systems Training Program on March 14-15 in Nashville, Tenn., at the Holiday Inn Select at Opryland.
Co-sponsored by WaterWorld and Industrial Water World magazines, this will be a one-of-a-kind program providing a comprehensive description of pumping system design and how the many components of a total submersible pumping lift station system influence and affect each other. Attendees will learn better system design through understanding the impact of each component on the other and on the total system.
Comprehensive sessions will be presented on:
* The Systems Approach to Lift Station Design
* Electric Motors -- Their Selection, Use and Application Considerations
* Application and Design of Submersible Pump VFD Systems and How to Use Them
* Seals and Seal Technology
* Case History Reports of Unusual and Challenging Station Design
* How to Design a Typical, Small, Round Wet Well Pump Station -- An Example

Watson-Marlow Bredel opens offices in Brazil, South Africa
New England-based pump maker Watson-Marlow Bredel has set up a directly-controlled sales operation in Brazil, a fast-growing market for the company's tube and hose pumps, headed by Renata Campos. Renata is already experienced in the peristaltic pump market, and comments "We believe the time is now right to build on the strong foundations put down in Brazil for our peristaltic pump business." Goulds Pumps helps the Big Easy stay dry with flood control pumps
If you live below sea level, controlling flood waters is a serious business. When you're bordered by the mighty Mississippi, threatened by Gulf Coast Hurricanes¿and also live below sea level¿your pumps better be reliable and able to move a lot of water.
The entire New Orleans area, including adjacent Jefferson Parish, has a topography much like a saucer.
