PENNSAUKEN, NJ, June 6, 2007 -- Macro Sensors, a sensor company specializing in the manufacture of LVDT-based linear position sensors and gaging probes, is an approved vendor for LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transducers) position sensors used on Westinghouse steam turbines and for LVRT (Linear Variable Reluctance Transformer) position sensors used on General Electric's steam turbines. Siemens-Westinghouse and GE implement the LVDTs and LVRTs, respectively, for position measurement on governor valves, throttle valves, reheat/stop valves, interceptor valves, and many other control valves.

In addition to offering exact replacement LVDTs and LVRTs that are form, fit, function equivalents with the same electrical and mechanical specifications as Westinghouse and GE stock units, Macro Sensors manufactures exact replacement Power Generation LVDTs that match other manufacturer designs, but at greater cost savings and availability. Units are available in a variety of configurations including:
• Hermetically sealed AC and DC-operated LVDTs with axial or radial connectors.
• UL/ULC- Listed AC operated LVDTs approved for operation in Class 1, Division 2 and Class Zone 2 hazardous locations
• Double-shielded and epoxy encapsulated AC-operated LVDTs that withstand high shock and vibration levels.

Macro Sensors also provides non-standard and custom-designed units for OEMS and system integrators. An online catalog of Power Generation Position Sensors that work with existing OEM control systems and updated retrofitted controls can be downloaded from Macro Sensors' web site.

Macro Sensors' extensive line of LVDT-based linear and rotary sensors are used for linear position measurement and feedback in a variety of industrial applications including factory automation, motion control systems, metal fabricating, automotive assembly as well as power plants, gas/steam turbines. Incorporated in 1994, the Company offers more than 200 years of cumulative design and manufacturing experience by its key staff in serving its OEM and end-user international customer base. On June 1, 2005, Macro Sensors was acquired by AST, manufacturer of state-of-the-art Micro-Electro- Mechanical- Structures (MEMS) based pressure sensors, transducers, and transmitters. Common applications of AST sensor products are in industrial OEM, hydraulic systems, fuel cells, medical gases, HVAC/R, refrigeration, oil & gas exploration/production, and off-road vehicles.
