Four killed in explosion at water treatment plant in Bristol

BRISTOL, UK -- Four people have died and another has been injured after a large explosion at a wastewater treatment facilty in Avonmouth, Bristol, at about 11:20 GMT. Those killed include three employees of Wessex Water and a contractor. The fifth injured person is listed as "in life-threatening condition."
The BBC reports the blast involved one of silos that treated biosolids at the water recycling center, operated by Wessex Water. People working the vicinity of the blast reported hearing a loud bang and shaking buildings following the explosion.
The cleanup operation and investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
