New book

A new book from Do¯ Sustainability, "Business Strategy for Water Challenges," is a concise guide for professionals that offers strategic steps for developing a corporate water stewardship strategy. It will enable water leaders to define business water risks and the opportunities associated with them; explore, through sector-specific profiles, risks associated with regulation, reputation, external response and engagement, and physical incidents; develop a clear plan and process for creating, managing and mainstreaming a corporate water strategy; and identify several initiatives and new risk tools that companies can use to apply best practices in water management.

Barking for Water is a configurable mobile application designed for utilities needing greater transparency on the activity of their workers. Features include workforce scheduling, asset history and GIS map extracts capabilities. As information is sent to the office in real time, Barking for Water allows work managers to gain visibility into technician or subcontractor work, identify problems early on and remove reconciliation issues with subcontractor firms.

New whitepaper

In WateReuse's whitepaper, "The Opportunities and Economics of Direct Potable Reuse," direct potable reuse (DPR) is shown to be generally less expensive than the potential alternative sources of new water supply available to communities in places such as California. It finds that DPR compares favorably with other new water supply alternatives in terms of cost, energy requirements, environmental considerations, and reliability.

With the new release, the TopView Engine can push real-time value and alarm updates to the browser, and audible text-to-speech alarms are also available.
