RICHMOND, BC, Canada, Aug. 17, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Colorado Springs Utilities, a community-owned utility that provides reliable natural gas, electricity, water and wastewater services to over 500,000 customers in the Pikes Peak region of Colorado, has successfully implemented MDSI Mobile Data Solutions' Advantex r7.7 enterprise mobile workforce management solution.

For the utility, Advantex replaces an earlier version of MDSI's software used for scheduling, work order assignment, dispatching, and managing fieldwork. In addition to general technology and functional improvements, the software now provides field workers with integrated street maps and optimized street level routing sequences and driving directions to ensure the quickest route between assignments while ensuring appointments are properly prioritized and met.

"We are pleased to receive continuing validation of Advantex r7.7 and Advantex Compose from a long-time customer and frequent award winner for customer service like Colorado Springs Utilities," commented Erik Dysthe, MDSI's president, CEO and chairman.

At Colorado Springs Utilities, the software is integrated with an existing customer care system and communicates data over a wireless network using wireless modems installed in rugged mobile computers, according to project manager Carey McGuire.
