The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure recently announced the formation of the Envision Review Board to oversee the ongoing development of the company's Envision sustainable infrastructure rating system, initially launched in 2012.

WASHINGTON, DC, May 11, 2015 -- The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) recently announced the formation of the Envision Review Board (ERB) to oversee the ongoing development of the company's Envision sustainable infrastructure rating system, initially launched in 2012 (see "ISI develops water infrastructure sustainability rating system"). The ERB held its first meeting during April 30-May 1 in Washington, D.C.

The mission of the ERB is to assure the continued integrity and efficacy of ISI's Envision sustainability rating system and its associated tools, resources and documents and to provide for consistency in interpretation and development. It will also assure that the ongoing relevant characteristics and associated best practices are conforming to the highest standards of scholarship and practice.

"The formation of the ERB is a necessary step in ensuring that future developments are transparent, collaborative and stakeholder-guided," said ISI Board of Directors Chair Terry Neimeyer, CEO and Chairman of KCI Technologies.

The 15 members of the ERB were selected from the U.S. and Canada for their knowledge and expertise in the applications of the Envision rating system. They represent a broad cross-section of the industry including private companies, public agencies, universities, and nonprofits. The inaugural ERB includes the following members, who will serve 1- to 3-year terms:

  • Andreas Georgoulias, Harvard University
  • Andrew Shaw, Black & Veatch
  • Andy Sauer, Burns & McDonnell
  • Doug Sereno, Port of Long Beach
  • Elizabeth Heider, Skanska
  • Floren Poliseo, New York City Department of Environmental Protection
  • Hal Kassoff, WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff
  • Ifetayo Venner, ARCADIS
  • John Eddy, Arup
  • Kari Hewitt, VHB
  • Lindsey Geiger, American Water Works Association
  • Marty Janowitz, Stantec
  • Michaella Wittmann, HDR
  • Timothy J. Barry, Obrien & Gere
  • Youn Sim, County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works

The ERB will also be engaged in the approval of the next version of the Envision rating system when it is developed as well as a new construction module, as part of ensuring that these developments maintain the integrity and objectives of Envision as a whole. In addition, the ERB will address concerns on the future direction of the system.
