Singapore’s national water agency PUB has appointed Black & Veatch to provide consultancy services for the country’s fourth desalination plant under a Design-Build-Own-Operate (DBOO) arrangement.
Planned with a capacity of 136,300 m3/day, the plant in Marina East will be designed to treat two different sources of water: seawater from the Singapore Straits or raw water from the Marina Reservoir.
The Request for Proposal for the development will be made in the second quarter of 2016.
It was in September last year when the announcement was made for the country’s fourth desalination plant (read WWi story).
Black & Veatch’s consultancy scope for the Singapore desalination project is similar to those undertaken by the company for the ongoing second Changi Newater Plant and Tuaspring Desalination Plant, completed in 2013.
The company also provided detailed design to Hyflux on the SingSpring desalination plant completed in 2005.
