DENVER, CO, Jan. 24, 2008 -- Water utility professionals will gather with security experts, leading technology manufacturers, emergency responders and decision-makers April 6-8 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to discuss preparation and response plans for natural and human-caused hazards during the fifth Water Security Congress, hosted by the American Water Works Association (AWWA).

Topics at the congress will include cyber security, risk communications, water quality monitoring, surveillance and recovery planning and the Safety Act. The exhibit will showcase the latest in locking devices, hydrant security, contamination detection technologies and more.

AWWA launched the Water Security Congress in 2003 to address urgent security needs for water utilities after 9/11. More than 400 professionals attended the first Congress. Each year, the Congress has expanded to encompass new initiatives in water security management. Aside from technical sessions and the exhibition, there are ample opportunities for water industry professionals to network, discuss best practices and share ideas about how to better protect public health.

The deadline for the 2008 Water Security Congress housing reservations and member early registration pricing is Friday, March 14. Full registration prices will be charged after March 14. For more information about the Congress, please visit http://www.awwa.org/conferences/congress.

AWWA is the authoritative resource for knowledge, information, and advocacy to improve the quality and supply of water in North America and beyond.
