• Board and staff's commitment to open, efficient management is honored
NEWHALL, CA, Sept. 25, 2009 -- The Government Finance Officers Association's of United States and Canada (GFOA) announced that Newhall County Water District has again received the GFOA'S Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget.
The award represents a significant achievement and reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting, an important distinction for the agency that prides itself on an accurate and transparent budgeting process.
"This is not an easy honor to achieve -- it reflects the commitment of our board and staff to the highest principles of governmental budgeting," said NCWD General Manager Steve Cole. "We are honored to have been recognized for these efforts, and are confident our commitment to strong financial management will benefit our customers as we face the challenges of tighter water supply and rising costs."
The GFOA is an organization supporting leading financial management practices for governments and their citizens. The GFOA's purpose is to enhance and promote the professional management of governments for the public benefit by identifying and developing financial policies and practices, and promoting them through education, training and leadership.
