NEWHALL, CA, Nov. 30, 2010 -- The Government Finance Officers Association of United States and Canada (GFOA) announced that Newhall County Water District has received for the third consecutive year the GFOA'S Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget.

The award represents a significant achievement and reflects the commitment of the NCWD's governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting, an important distinction for the agency that prides itself on an accurate and transparent budgeting process.

"This is not an easy honor to achieve," said NCWD General Manager Steve Cole. "We are honored to be recognized for these efforts, and are confident our commitment to strong financial management will benefit our customers as we face the challenges of tighter water supply and rising costs."

The GFOA is an organization supporting leading financial management practices for governments and their citizens. The GFOA's purpose is to enhance and promote the professional management of governments for the public benefit by identifying and developing financial policies and practices, and promoting them through education, training and leadership. More information regarding GFOA and the award can be found on the GFOA website at www.gfoa.org.

A copy of the District's budget -- the "2010/2011 Annual Budget Report" -- can be found on the District's Web site, www.ncwd.org/documents.
