PHOENIX, AZ, MAY 22, 2017 -- The Arizona Department of Water Resources will get $2 million in the fiscal year 2018 budget, with $2 million more expected in both 2019 and 2020, the Arizona Capitol Times reported last week.

A spokesperson for the department said the funding will be used to hire new employees and to keep water levels in Lake Mead steady with input from the Colorado River.

As many as 11 new positions are expected to come from this funding in 2018. Keeping water levels in Lake Mead steady will prevent future cuts to the department.
