DUBUQUE, IA, Dec. 6, 2005 -- Santa Barbara, Calif., (pop. 88,251) was the recipient of CarteGraph's 2005 Excellence in Public Works Management Award. The award is given to a CarteGraph client that has created a better community for their citizens, council members and staff through the use of CarteGraph's products and services.

Santa Barbara's parking, street operations, water distribution and waste water divisions all implemented CarteGraph software, including WORKdirector, CALLlink, STORMview, SEWERview, WATERview, VERSAtools and MAPdirector for ArcGIS. In the first nine months, the city has logged 6,018 work orders and 6,774 work requests through the CarteGraph software. With CarteGraph, the city has been able to track and maintain all of their assets, while becoming a more efficient community.

"Thank you very much for the award and the recognition of all the hard work that Santa Barbara City staff put into bringing this project to a successful completion," commented Rob Badger, Santa Barbara's Information Systems Supervisor. "Our implementation team of Information Systems and Public Works staff champions did a great job of bringing this project in on time and within the budgeted funds. Our 'champions' are now the city's CarteGraph experts for their respective division. And thanks to CarteGraph for providing the professional staff that guided us through this process."

The Excellence in Public Works Management Award was introduced in 1999 to recognize organizations in the public works industry that are exceeding the existing asset management standards. Organizations considered for this award has implemented technology to gain efficiency, while making their communities better and safer places to live and work.

After such success, the Santa Barbara Airport is now in the processes of implementing the CarteGraph system. Santa Barbara joins Denton, Texas; West Des Moines, Iowa; Hudson, Ohio; Golden, Colo.; Clark County, Nev.; Riley County, Kan.; Sarasota County, Fla.; and Miami Township, Ohio, as past recipients of the award.
