BAAR, Switzerland –Smart water companies Gutermann and TaKaDu are teaming up to combine their efforts into a ‘belt and braces’ solution to detect and reduce water losses.

Israeli company TaKaDu’s event management platform is being integrated with Swiss firm Gutermann’s fixed network acoustic leak detection technology.

The idea is that alerts will be received from two different sources as well as from customer service centres, providing more information and enabling operational teams to validate and find the location of leaks more easily.

To date, the combined solution has been deployed at utility Mei Carmel in Haifa, Israel which is “showing excellent results”, according to the companies.

For joint customers, TaKaDu’s platform will act as the central layer for all network events detected by both systems.

The agreement with Gutermann follows a string of industry partnerships signed by TaKaDu, including teaming up with ABBto work with Vietnam utility Saigon Water Supply Corporation, as well as working with Danish pump giant Grundfos on a joint pilot projectat Danish water utility Frederikshavn Forsyning.

Uri Gutermann, head of business development & CFO, Gutermann, said: “Combining the automatically correlated and pinpointed leak locations from our acoustic sensor network with TaKaDu’s big data analytics and event management offers joint customers the most reliable, precise and comprehensive solution for network management.”

Amir Peleg, founder & CEO, TaKaDu, added: “TaKaDu’s customers already integrate events from a variety of sources such as call centre (consumer reports) and work order systems (predictive maintenance and repair activities). This latest integration with GUTERMANN strengthens the capability of users to manage events even better, helps to break silos, and improves collaboration between the back office and field teams.”
