WALNUT CREEK, CA, June 24, 2003 -- Synergen, Inc. a provider of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) solutions, announced that the City of Colton, Calif., is live with the Synergen Series™ city-wide, including its three city public utilities divisions.

Colton Public Utilities owns, operates and maintains its own electric power transmission and distribution network, and water and wastewater treatment services for the city. Independent electric supply to the city will also be in effect when construction of its own 43 megawatt power plant is complete and online by July 1, 2003.

The city's first priority had been procurement of an EAM solution to track projects, labor and associated capital project costs for their public utilities. To maximize cost savings and increase efficiencies, the scope of the project was expanded to integrate all city departments with a single solution to support community service requests, maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, as well as address regulatory mandates.

"The Synergen Series now gives us the means to accurately track project costs, which was a primary goal," said Dilu Dealwis, finance director for the city of Colton. "Another key objective was a fully-integrated enterprise-wide asset management system with complete maintenance functionality that will help us better serve our population and comply with federal regulations such as CMOM. Our implementation was successful and Synergen's core team was invaluable in training and getting us up and running - Synergen was absolutely the best choice for Colton from the start and well into the future."

"The city of Colton is unique in that they own and operate their own water, wastewater and electric power utilities. They required a scalable EAM solution in order to address the distinct needs of each separate city entity, and with seamless integration to the city's financial system," said Richard MacDonald, president and CEO of Synergen. "The Synergen Series was architected to support the exacting but varied needs of organizations like Colton, while maintaining the flexibility to keep pace with changing economic, environmental and regulatory requirements."

Synergen's Web-architected CMMS/EAM software suite, The Synergen Series™, addresses all aspects of MRO including: collaborative work management, asset reliability and maintenance; inventory control, purchasing, and contract management; operational accounting; reporting and analysis; project tracking; safety and regulatory compliance; and document control. Supported by the latest in Internet technology, users need only a standard Web browser to rapidly install, deploy and access Synergen solutions across the enterprise.
