WALNUT CREEK, CA, JUNE 10, 2003 -- Synergen, Inc., a provider of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) solutions, announced it has been selected by New York City's Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) to implement EAM/CMMS solution, the Synergen Series™, for their Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT) city-wide.
NYCDEP's Bureau of Wastewater Treatment is responsible for maintaining the city's sewage system in all five boroughs. It operates 14 water pollution control plants that treat an average of 1.54 billion gallons of wastewater a day, 89 wastewater pump stations, eight dewatering facilities, 490 sewer regulators and 6,000 miles of intercepting sewers. New York City has the largest capacity wastewater treatment facilities in the country, serving a population of roughly eight million people.
Having previously relied for many years on a custom-developed work order system, the city became aware that their expanding infrastructure could greatly benefit from a lifecycle extension initiative based on an enterprise asset management approach that would enable facility managers to better coordinate and track maintenance requirements, improving the overall effectiveness of MRO efforts. After a rigorous competitive review, including detailed software demonstrations, Synergen was selected from a field of more than seven vendors as the city's system of choice to achieve these goals.
Rich Florentino, assistant director of systems engineering for BWT who is overseeing the implementation commented, "Having carefully planned this effort for many years now, we are confident that we have selected the right company. Synergen's client references are outstanding and the software, to the extent we've worked during preliminary training and configuration sessions, appears to be everything we need now and well into the future. And most importantly, the Synergen project staff is top-notch - experienced, highly capable and very 'user-friendly.'"
Richard MacDonald, Synergen president and CEO, commented, "We're particularly excited about this partnership opportunity and eager to collaborate with NYCDEP's impressive team. While Synergen has an established presence and proven success within the water services industry, we believe that NYCDEP brings considerable expertise and momentum to Synergen's highly-engaged and enterprising user community."
Synergen's Web-architected CMMS/EAM software suite, The Synergen Series™, addresses all aspects of MRO including: collaborative work management, asset reliability and maintenance; inventory control, purchasing, and contract management; operational accounting; reporting and analysis; project tracking; safety and regulatory compliance; and document control. Supported by the latest in Internet technology, users need only a standard Web browser to rapidly install, deploy and access Synergen solutions across the enterprise.
