ERRENTERIA, Spain, Apr. 3, 2012 -- The Consorcio de Aguas de Bilbao Bizkaia in Spain has selected Elster (NYSE: ELT) to supply up to 42,000 S220 single-jet water meters over the next 24 months. The Consorcio de Aguas de Bilbao Bizkaia manages the primary water supply and drainage network for approximately one million inhabitants, providing services to 90 percent of the population of Bizkaia.
The tender was divided into three zones, with Elster being awarded zone A, which constitutes 47 percent of the total tender award. As part of this tender award, Elster will also install a fixed network AMI system to enable the Consorcio de Aguas de Bilbao Bizkaia to manage their water resources more efficiently.
The S220 single-jet meter was selected for its high accuracy and quality. Designed by Elster's research and development centre, the S220 is Elster's next generation innovative single-jet meter, with a dynamic flow range up to R200. The meter can be equipped with a bi-directional pulser making it suitable for remote consumption reading.
