Enhanced asset management knowledge base available from WERF
ALEXANDRIA, VA, Apr. 9, 2012 -- Sustainable Infrastructure Management Program Learning Environment (SIMPLE) is a web-based knowledge management tool from the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) that provides wastewater and drinking water utilities guidance on best practices and processes from around the world.
SIMPLE is the basis for the U.S. EPA Advanced Asset Management Workshops. It offers users the latest state-of-the-art asset management knowledge, practices, and programs and provides the decision support tools to begin or advance a program of their own. It will continue to be updated and improved over time to reflect modern engineering and asset management practices that will include new tools and expanded guidance on tolerable risk and economic decision making concepts.
Recently, SIMPLE has been redesigned into two separate modules as follows:
Level 1, Introductory - This level is available free to anyone who visits the WERF web site (http://www.werf.org). It contains pathways for developing an asset management program, a series of interactive training aids, guidelines for small utilities, and a useful tool to help users understand capital planning as well as practical downloadable spreadsheets for AM practitioners to use as templates for their AM programs.
Level 2, Practitioner - This level is free to WERF subscribers and available for $595.00 (US) for non-subscribers. It contains all the material available in level 1 plus all of WERF’s Strategic Asset Management (SAM) tools, an extensive set of AM guidelines, and case studies. It also contains a full library of reports undertaken by WERF and WaterRF on asset management.
Further information about SIMPLE and many other WERF tools is available at http://www.werf.org.
