FAIRFAX, VA, May 1, 2012 -- Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has recently been selected by Denver Water (DW) for a pipeline sizing and alignment alternatives study for Conduit Numbers 16 and 22 and Moffat Solids Pipeline.

The Moffat Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Lakewood, Colorado, is one of three cornerstone surface water treatment plants that DW owns and operates to provide potable water to more than 1.3 million people. The Moffat WTP began producing water in 1937, with Conduit 16 conveying its water supply from the Ralston Reservoir. Conduit 22 was constructed in 1954 to allow for expansion of this facility.

To permit the planned expansion of the Moffat WTP to 250 million gallons per day (MGD), Dewberry will examine the physical reliability of these pipelines. The study will evaluate the condition of the existing conduits, provide hydraulic analysis of the existing pipelines and appurtenances, propose alternatives for rehabilitation and/or replacement, and provide preferred alignment and sizing options for each pipeline, including budgetary cost estimates that can be used for capital project planning.

"We are passionate about the unique water supply and treatment issues in the West," says Associate Vice President Randy Parks, PE. "We look forward to working with this long-term client to find creative solutions to their challenges."
