SAN DIEGO, CA, Feb. 5, 2009 -- Acea Distribuzione S.p.A has selected Oracle® Utilities Meter Data Management to provide a centralized, robust meter data management system and support the company's Automatic Meter Management (AMM) project.
The utility, which is part of Acea Group and one of the largest municipalities in Italy, manages electricity and water distribution, as well as retail gas and electricity. It selected Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management to support its AMM project, covering approximately 1.6 million meters.
Acea's project is one of the largest AMM deployments in Europe to date and plans to eventually extend to gas and water meters. The AMM system will allow Acea Distribuzione to finely manage high accuracy, bi-directional meter data and smart grid applications to improve network operations control and automatically monitor low- and medium-voltage lines. With the AMM project, Acea plans to improve supply quality for its customers, provide commercial options tailored to an individual's consumption profile and increase availability of consumption information online.
"Acea Distribuzione is one of the leaders in large-scale AMM deployments in Europe, and Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management will help the utility improve service and create greater energy consumption efficiencies," said Bastian Fischer, vice president and general manager EMEA, Oracle Utilities.
"With Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management, we will be able to support one of the largest AMM deployments in European history. The Oracle solution will help us to provide our customers with advanced options including consumption profiles as well as consumption information online -- ultimately allowing the consumer to make more informed decisions about their energy use," said Delio Svaluto Moreolo, Metering Department, Acea Distribuzione S.p.A.
