HARTFORD, CT, Nov. 3, 2004 -- The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) of Connecticut has selected AT RAMAR LLC's 900 Series automatic meter reading (AMR) product line for automating collection of data from its water meters.

The MDC's strategy calls for an AMR system built on an open system philosophy allowing it to use existing meters and meter reading equipment. The project will include 55,000-meter interface units to be installed over a six-year period. Implementation began in April 2003 with a pilot study at over 100 locations. Full deployment is scheduled to continue through 2009.

Before selecting RAMAR, the MDC conducted extensive field tests, had software developed to interface with the MDC's billing system, and evaluated the automated data collection system's compatibility with several brands of water meters.
