Planning is under way for the third annual Energy Efficiency Forum for the Water & Wastewater Industry, which will feature the latest information on the conservation, purchasing and efficient use of power.

This years event will build on the success of the second EEF, held last year in San Diego, Calif. Last years forum drew nearly 150 managers, engineers, operators and other industry professionals interested in the efficient use of energy in the distribution, collection and treatment of drinking water and wastewater.

Key topics of this years forum will include reducing energy costs through the use of creative energy management techniques and technologies, plus tips on working with electric and gas suppliers to obtain better rates. The forum will also feature case studies and in-depth discussions on traditional big energy systems such as pumps, motors and aeration systems.

The EEF Call for Papers for 2000 is being sent out. Utility officials, engineers or consultants interested in sharing their experiences in energy management are urged to submit papers for the forum. A total of 36 papers will be selected; they will be presented in half-hour segments over a two-day period during the forum. Deadline for abstracts is March 20.

Nominations also are being sought for the EEF Innovative Energy Management award. The award will be presented to a municipal water or wastewater utility that has successfully implemented an energy management system. To be considered for the award, detailed information on the utilitys program must be submitted for consideration by members of the EEF Conference Committee.

Abstracts and nominations should be sent to: James Laughlin, Conference Chairman, 1421 S. Sheridan Road, Tulsa, OK 74112. E-mail: [email protected].
