Telvent awarded contract for water supply management system for Qatar
MADRID, Spain, Aug. 16, 2005 -- Telvent GIT S.A., a global real-time information technology company, has been awarded a contract by "Kahramaa," the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation, to implement a water management system for the supply of drinking water in Doha, capital of the State of Qatar. Devcon to sell U.S. Virgin Island materials operations for $10.7 million
DEERFIELD BEACH, FL, Aug. 16, 2005 -- Due to a net loss for the three months ended June 30 of $420,000 and $2 million for the first half of the year, Devcon International Corp. agreed to sell operating assets of its U.S. Virgin Islands materials operations to an unnamed private investor group. The loss is primarily attributable to a $650,000 decrease in Construction Division operating income, a $456,000 increase in interest expense associated with the purchase of Adelphia Communications' electronic security services business completed on Feb. 28, and a $306,000 severance charge resulting from a Materials Division management realignment...

Flowserve completes $1 billion debt refinancing
DALLAS, Aug. 16, 2005 -- Flowserve Corp. completed its previously announced $1 billion refinancing of its high yield notes, Term A and Term C loans, and consolidation of its revolving credit and backup liquidity facilities on Aug. 12. The company also announced it will redeem all of its 12.25% Senior Subordinated Notes with face amounts of $188.5 million and EUR 65 million. It currently expects to save more than $20 million of interest expense annually through these actions. Separately, the company said it will incur about $10 million of expenses in 2005, including about $6.5 million in non-cash stock compensation expense, related to the CEO transition and certain stock compensation actions...

Wal-Mart agrees to stormwater settlement; pledges cooperation with Conn. DEP
BENTONVILLE, AR, Aug. 15, 2005 In deal concerning violations at 20 Wal-Mart stores and two Sam's Club locations, the company will pay $600,000 in civil penalties for incidents alleged to have taken place between 1996 and 2003.
