GLENN DALE, MD, Jan. 25, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- TVI Corp., a global supplier of equipment for first responders, military, and public health agencies for use in response to weapons of mass destruction (WMD), terrorist threats, accidents and natural disasters, today announced that it has received a $1.8 million order from the State of Maryland for 20 of its Mobile Emergency Power Systems.

The system is another new, internally developed product for TVI Corp. It will provide the state of Maryland with increased first response capabilities in the Greater Baltimore area for use when power outages occur as a result of WMD, terrorist attacks, accidents or natural disasters.

In the event of an incident, the system's primary function is to provide back-up emergency power. These trailerized systems come in both a 500 kilowatt, and 350 kilowatt configuration and are capable of powering mission critical government functions such as wastewater treatment plants, emergency management centers and water works. With the addition of TVI's mobile and rapidly deployable electrical generation systems, the state of Maryland is able to enhance its existing inventory of emergency power response capabilities.

"We are pleased that the state of Maryland chose to continue the long-standing relationship that we have had with it and numerous first responder agencies across the state," stated Richard V. Priddy, TVI Corporation's President and CEO. "TVI's Mobile Emergency Power Systems are another example of the highly innovative technology developed at TVI that is now being fielded by world-class first response agencies around the globe. As a Maryland-based company, TVI is delighted to assist the state in its important mission of fielding the very best equipment to protect the citizens of Maryland. As with all of TVI's new products, we believe our Mobile Emergency Power Systems has tremendous growth potential."

The order was placed through Fisher Safety, a division of Fisher Scientific, one of TVI's national distributors.

Over the past 18 months, through technological innovation, TVI has expanded its product line to include hospital patient isolation, chemical and biological protection and hospital surge capacity systems, crime scene management systems, and powered air respirators. Priddy continued, "With our product line expansion, there is a need to broaden our limited distribution network and thereby the reach of our sales force. Our recently expanded domestic and international distribution network provides additional outlets and opportunities for the sale of both our existing and newly developed product lines."
