PENNINGTON, NJ, April 29, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- WorldWater & Power Corp., a maker of high-horsepower solar energy systems, has been selected by the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) as a Preferred Solar Partner. The designation identifies the company as one of two organizations recommended to ACWA member agencies for the implementation of solar electric power systems to drive water pumps and to reduce grid electric bills.

In response to the significant number of leads already generated by the ACWA agreement and the potential size of this market, WorldWater & Power has appointed Douglas Washington, vice president of marketing and international operations, to head up the newly created Water Utilities Division for the California region.

"This is an extremely large market in California alone, with each of the 447 water districts representing potentially millions in solar system purchases, and WorldWater is working aggressively to follow up on this endorsement," stated WorldWater & Power CEO, Quentin T. Kelly.

"Doug was instrumental in developing the ACWA partnership, and we feel that he is an excellent choice to spearhead this market. Having a specific division in charge of California Water Utilities will allow us to provide faster turnaround times on proposals, and provide a generally higher level of service to the Water Districts."

ACWA is a non-profit organization representing 447 public water agencies that provide 90% of the water delivered for residential, agricultural, and industrial use in the State of California. ACWA's unique partnership programs are designed to help ACWA members identify and select appropriate technological expertise.

After rigorous screening of candidates, ACWA selected two firms, WorldWater & Power Corporation and PowerLight Corporation to be recommended to the member utilities for solar power needs.

"One thing that stands out about the WorldWater system is that it is the only one among solar (water) installations that will generate when the grid goes down," said Lon House, the technical energy consultant to ACWA. "They also have the technology to power large pumps, and they have several such installations in California."

WorldWater & Power provides independent solar-powered electricity to power motors and pumps up to 600 hp, even in blackout conditions. In the event of a grid failure, the array disconnects from the grid but continues delivering electric power to the specific user to operate the pumps and motors, a very important feature for water utilities.

The five-year Preferred Solar Partner Agreement essentially pre-qualifies the selected firm and conveys "favored supplier" status to the company.

In related developments, WorldWater & Power broke ground last week on its first California water district project at the Idyllwild Water District facility, which lies west of Palm Springs. The company also announced a contract with an Atlantic County, N.J., water treatment facility, of which WorldWater's portion is about $2.2 million.

WorldWater & Power Corp. (www.worldwater.com) is a full-service, international solar electric engineering and water management company with unique, high-powered and patented solar technology that provides solutions to a broad spectrum of the world's electricity and water supply problems.
