Louisiana City migrates data to new CMS

April 4, 2002
SCT announced today that the City of Alexandria, Louisiana, has self-migrated to the latest version of SCT Banner Customer Management System (CMS).

MALVERN, Pa., April 4, 2002 -- SCT, a global provider of e-business solutions for utilities, announced today that the City of Alexandria, Louisiana, has self-migrated to the latest version of SCT Banner Customer Management System (CMS).

SCT Banner's do-it-yourself migration capabilities enabled Alexandria to implement the newest functionality of its CMS software with minimal incremental costs. With the latest version of Banner CMS, the city plans to escalate levels of service to its 35,000 electric, gas, water, wastewater, sewer, and refuse customers.

An SCT customer since 1995, Alexandria expects to take advantage of its upgraded SCT Banner CMS to increase billing accuracy and timeliness, improve customer response time, and provide online access to its customers via the Internet. The city's ultimate goal -- to lower rates for competitive advantage -- should be a logical next step as streamlined processes reduce costs for service delivery.

"With self-migration, we are able to keep internal costs down and focus on giving our customers access to the latest technological advances," said James Koonce, manager of information systems for the City of Alexandria. "Banner CMS positions us to succeed and realize valuable benefits, not just for the City of Alexandria, but for our customers as well."

"Self-migration has proven to be an extremely cost-effective approach for municipalities like Alexandria," said John Gregg, president of SCT's global energy and utilities solutions. "We have other clients who have also found self-migrating to be a very successful approach. This is another example of SCT's ability to meet an organization's operational needs while providing the highest levels of functionality for first-rate customer services."

About Alexandria Alexandria is committed to continuing to improve the utility system and making it the best municipal-owned system in the state. The port of Alexandria has been expanded, and the England Industrial Airpark has attracted and will continue to attract national acclaim as a model of base reuse.
