May 16, 2002 -- Gravitational Systems has announced the first of its gravity powered products, a device which uses the weight of moving cattle to generate electricity and pump water.

The device, called a G-Pump, uses the transient weight of moving cattle to pump water. The G-Pump is installed in a simple box trench along a cattle runway. The weight of moving animals is used to create vacuums in the device which pulls water from a source, up to 1500 feet away.

No other power source is required, and the device can pumps an average 25Gpm, with a small herd. The rugged design of the device makes it ideal for pasture watering, or general irrigation.

The cost of the G-pumps is comparable to traditional wind or solar installations, but the increased reliability, simple-durable construction and low maintenance give the G-pump the edge in many applications. The devices are easy to install, but require a hardened or gravel lined trench in the roadway.
