Colorado's growing population places increasing pressure on the state's already constrained water supply. By 2030, Colorado will grow by nearly two-thirds -- or 2.8 million residents -- to reach a total population of 7.1 million. The state's water basins will need 53 percent more water to meet projected demands, according to the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Excess water is similarly catastrophic for structures, resulting in asphalt cracks, rot and mold, the costs of which are 5-to-10 times as high as water bills.
