MILWAUKEE, WI, Oct. 20, 2008 -- Johnson Controls Inc., a global multi-industrial leader in energy efficiency, has acquired Gridlogix, a software company based in St. Louis, MO. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Johnson Controls is in a better position to help customers minimize the effects of rising energy prices while addressing their goals to make their facilities more sustainable. Customers are seeking, and Johnson Controls is committed to providing, integration of myriad operating systems throughout the enterprise into a single information source. This acquisition allows the convergence of IT and building management systems, providing greater information on the impact these systems have on facilities.

"We are trying to help large and global organizations integrate, measure, manage and reduce their energy costs through enhanced integration and systems management," said Allen Martin, vice president and general manager -- systems business of Johnson Controls. "With rising energy prices and increasing concern over the environment, organizations seek solutions -- such as data on their key performance indicators -- to help minimize the effects of market volatility."

Gridlogix's EnNET® platform allows building management systems to interface with open protocol IT systems to better manage energy, maintenance, physical security and compliance, which makes their facilities more energy efficient and sustainable. The platform is currently operable in many global business segments, including data centers, government, higher education and commercial facilities.

Gridlogix's software combined with Johnson Controls Metasys® building management system will allow facility managers greater and more secure connectivity to IT applications. Users can also realize enhanced alarm response capabilities, and increased monitoring and reporting, thus allowing them to aggregate data for enterprise-based reports. Equipped with this greater visibility to energy use, users can make intelligent real-time portfolio decisions.

"This is a natural integration of two companies who know that energy efficiency and sustainability are key business drivers for customers," said John Daniel, executive vice president of business development for Gridlogix. "We look forward to seeing our solutions integrated into the Johnson Controls product family to serve and to bring greater benefits to customers the world over."

Gridlogix customers can continue to expect a high-level of service and expertise throughout this transition. Gridlogix will soon take on the Johnson Controls name.

Gridlogix has received numerous awards for the design and delivery of software solutions that provide information management for sustainability. The company was named the Governor's 2007 Technology Company of the Year by the Missouri Technology Corporation and Department of Economic Development. In addition, the company has won four Buildcon "Buildy" awards, two Realcom "Digy" awards, and most recently was presented the Building Connectivity Implementation Award at ConnectivityWeek 2008 for its comprehensive and unprecedented energy and utility metering of Boston's Battery Wharf properties, which includes condominiums, retail space, and a grand hotel.

Johnson Controls is a global leader that brings ingenuity to the places where people live, work and travel.
