MILL VALLEY, CA, Apr. 15, 2009 -- Solar Power Partners Inc., the country's premier independent solar power producer, was presented with the West County Wastewater District's Big Picture Award on Apr. 7, 2009 for special achievement in the construction, ownership, operation, and management of the nation's largest dual-axis tracker solar system, now generating green power at the District's Richmond, CA facility. Premier Power, SPP's EPC contractor on the project, was also presented with the award by the organization's Board of Directors.

"From start to finish, Solar Power Partners made the project a success. They worked to overcome design and rate challenges in a way that demonstrated their commitment to the project. The result is a visually stunning system that provides green energy to the District at set prices for the next twenty years. The Board is excited about the long-term partnership with SPP and the success of the project," said George Schmidt, President of the Board of Directors at the West County Wastewater District.

The West County Wastewater District entered into a solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SPP, which allowed the District to embrace solar without the use of public capital. SPP sells the District the electricity generated from the solar system SPP at a fixed rate for the next 20 years. The result is a 1.014 MW system consisting of 89 dual-axis trackers, spanning five acres of land. The system produces approximately 1,904,404 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually, which is enough to meet the annual needs of 304 California homes, or parking 257 passenger vehicles for a year.

Alexander v. Welczeck, SPP's President and CEO, said, "SPP is honored to receive this award. It clearly demonstrates how a public and private partnership can successfully obtain renewable energy in a logical, cost effective way."

The West County Wastewater District will host a public tour of the solar facility during Earth Day festivities on Saturday, Apr. 25 2009, at 2377 Garden Tract Road, Richmond, CA 94801.

Solar Power Partners Inc. (SPP) is America's premier independent solar power producer and is leading the way in streamlining the adoption of clean solar energy by businesses, institutions and municipalities throughout the United States.
