LOMETA, TX, Nov. 9, 2010 -- A wastewater treatment plant in Lometa, TX, is expected to provide or offset up to 100 percent of the electricity it requires thanks to its 100-kilowatt solar array.

A grant of almost $489,000 from the Texas Department of Rural Affairs helped fund the project. The department says the Lometa facility, owned by the Lower Colorado River Authority, is the first in Texas to have its wastewater treatment plant powered by the sun.
