ATLANTA, GA, May 22, 2007 -- On May 14th EnerTech Environmental ceremonially broke ground on its first commercial-scale SlurryCarb™ facility located in Rialto, California. The Rialto Regional Biosolids Processing Facility will increase the production of renewable energy in Southern California by converting biosolids from five municipalities in the Los Angeles region into renewable fuel. The renewable fuel, called E-Fuel™, will be used by a local cement kiln as an alternative to coal, reducing the kiln's reliance on fossil fuels. The ceremony was attended by state and local officials as well as representatives from all five of the facility's customers.

Ceremony speakers emphasized the project's support of California's recent energy initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by utilizing biosolids to generate renewable energy. "At this facility we will be a good neighbor. We will care about our minimizing our carbon footprint and will work diligently to support California's leadership in renewable energy initiatives and reducing greenhouse gas emissions," said EnerTech President Kevin Bolin.

"Projects such as this one demonstrate that communities and agencies in California are committed to working together to protect public health and the environment for generations to come," said Bill Lockyer, California State Treasurer. As Treasurer, Lockyer chairs the California Debt Limit Allocation Committee (CDLAC), which allocated $160 million in tax-exempt bonds to support the financing of this project.

"This facility symbolizes a win, win, win, win, win for the City, EnerTech, and the four other municipal partners," said Mayor Grace Vargas of the City of Rialto. "EnerTech's environmentally-friendly project is bringing jobs and revenue into our community and we are happy to host this facility."

Other speakers focused on the project's innovative new technology and its creative solution to recycling biosolids waste by generating a renewable fuel. "This project provides true diversification for our biosolids program," said Robert Horvath, Technical Services Department Head for the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County. "As alternatives such as land application are threatened, this project provides a completely different approach to biosolids management that is not subject to diminishing capacity."

The facility is scheduled for completion in December 2008.

Located in Rialto, California, The Rialto Regional Biosolids Processing Facility will convert approximately 700 wet tons per day of biosolids from five municipalities in the Los Angeles region into approximately 145 tons per day of renewable fuel. The renewable fuel, called E-Fuel, will be used by a local cement kiln as an alternative to coal. The facility's customers include the Orange County Sanitation District, the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, the City of Riverside, the City of San Bernardino Municipal Water Department, and the City of Rialto.
