Acuacar deploys i2O network analytics in Cartagena, Colombia

Aug. 14, 2020
Over the last twenty years, Acuacar has transformed water services that underpin the city’s success.

COLOMBIA – Acuacar is the water company of Cartagena de Indias, one of Colombia’s most famous and most visited city. Over the last 20 years, Acuacar has transformed water services that underpin the city’s success, with clean water now available to 100% of the city’s 1 million population and its 2.5 million visitors a year.

Acuacar is extending the services provided by i2O Water to include its iNet Network Analytics software throughout its service area. iNet combines datasets to derive as much insight from that data as possible to detect and diagnose network issues earlier, maintain assets in a more timely and cost-effective way based on their condition, and identify opportunities to improve network performance.  It does so in a secure and reliable way.

“We have used i2O solutions for a long time and rely on them to help us instrument and optimize pressure in our networks," Director of Projects of Acuacar, Jorge Luque said. "Being able to detect transients and events using the permanently deployed pressure and flow logging devices already installed, without the need for specialist equipment, will help us identify and diagnose network issues more quickly and cost-effectively, reducing leakage and improving the service we provide to the city’s inhabitants and tourists.”

Joel Hagan, CEO at i2O commented: “I’m delighted that Jorge and his team will be able to do more to address their challenges with iNet. Acuacar is an innovator in Colombia and in the Suez group with its use of state of the art technology. I highly recommend Cartagena as a place to visit after lockdown with its sunshine, sand, sea, and reliable supply of clean drinking water!”
