The Missouri subsidiary of American Water has recently completed its acquisitions of two water systems in northwest and central Missouri.

The company has acquired the Orrick water/wastewater system, serving approximately 340 customers, and the Hallsville wastewater system, serving approximately 700 customers.

“The approval by the Missouri Public Service Commission allows residents to benefit from our company’s experience and expertise in operating wastewater systems efficiently,” Missouri American Water’s president, Rich Svindland, said.

More than 68 percent of voters in Hallsville supported a ballot measure in November 2019 to make Missouri American Water their wastewater provider.

“We examined a lot of options and Missouri American Water was the best partner for our city. Our citizens overwhelmingly voted for this two years ago and we’re glad to finally see it come to fruition,” said Hallsville Mayor Logan Carter.

The company has stated that it will invest $3.3 million in Hallsville’s wastewater system over five years, and will invest $1.3 million in Orrick’s water/wastewater system over five years. The investments will aim to improve service and meet regulatory compliance.

The company also stated that it is working with the city officials of both regions to ensure a smooth transition of service.
