Landis+Gyr Named a Leader in 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant Report for Meter Data Management Products

Jan. 10, 2016

Atlanta, GA. – Dec. 16, 2015 – Gartner, Inc. has named Landis+Gyr as a Leader in its Magic Quadrant Report for Meter Data Management Products published December 14, 2015. The report positions vendors within a particular quadrant based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute.

Landis+Gyr is the world’s leading provider of smart grid and smart metering solutions, with demonstrated success throughout 2015 delivering a complete solution to the global utility market including 15 new MDMS contracts and deployments.

According to Gartner, “Leaders in this market must pair advanced technology with broad offerings, rich functionality and the capability to configure their solution to different needs, as well as to offer their solution both on premises and in the cloud. They should also be able to demonstrate the financial viability needed to fuel R&D to support new technology requirements (such as Web services and service-oriented architecture) and to enable business process integration across functional silos in utilities.”

“Landis+Gyr’s MDMS currently supports some of the largest advanced metering deployments in North America, Europe and Asia,” said Dave Connaker, General Manager of Landis+Gyr’s MDMS Solutions. “We’re pleased to be recognized as a leader in this category as we continue to expand capabilities that allow utilities to meaningfully connect metering data to applications across their business.”

Landis+Gyr’s MDMS platform validates, manages and controls data from advanced meters and smart grid devices. It is complemented by application extensions that analyze usage and event patterns, turning data into insight for the business. The MDMS is offered through flexible delivery models as a standalone enterprise solution or aligned component of a vertically integrated solution.
The MDMS supports event analysis to improve outage detection and theft detection, and also can support prepayment rollouts. It can be implemented and managed by the utility or selected in either a SaaS or fully managed service model. As a crucial component of the Landis+Gyr innovative advanced analytics platform, the MDMS can scale to levels that readily accommodate the readings, events, commands and reports processing requirements of smart utilities.

Landis+Gyr currently provides meter data management services to global customers to include the largest power company in Japan, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), one of the leading energy groups in Northern Europe, Danish Oil and Natural Gas (DONG Energy) and a regional cooperative covering southwest Kansas, The Victory Electric Cooperative Association.

“As we continue to invest in product innovation, Landis+Gyr remains strongly committed to helping our customers realize true value from their data,” Connaker said. “Whether for use in customer service, billing, distribution management or advanced analytics applications, the validated data provided by our solution is driving efficiency and energy management activities forward.”
