Columbus Water & Power's Market Analysis to Build Resilience via Reuse
How can recycled water help secure Central Ohio’s water future while supporting continued growth and economic development? Discover how Columbus Water and Power is using GIS-based analysis, customer insights, and feasibility screening to identify strategic water reuse opportunities and build a resilient, scalable water supply for tomorrow.
Columbus Water and Power is evaluating recycled water to strengthen supply resilience amid population growth, drought, and rapid industrial expansion. The market analysis used GIS-based multi-factor scoring, customer surveys, and feasibility screening to identify high-potential non-potable reuse opportunities. Users were evaluated based on demand potential, proximity to water reclamation plants (WRPs), demand consistency, and resiliency benefits. Eight focus areas were screened, with South, Northeast, and West areas advanced for conceptual design. These projects can offset potable demand, support economic development, and create a scalable circular water backbone for Central Ohio.
