Summary

Cyber-attacks with physical consequences are doubling every year - a crisis is approaching. Cyber-Informed Engineering is a powerful new way to address the problem - engineering-grade designs are in many senses "unhackable," which dramatically simplifies and reduces the cost of cybersecurity programs. In this webinar, we look at the numbers - how cyber-attacks take down water systems. 

We introduce Cyber-Informed Engineering (CIE) with examples from safety, protection, and network engineering. We then apply these ideas to water treatment systems small and large, arguing that the industry needs a new reference architecture - one that reflects today's threats, can grow into tomorrow's threats and needs, and can be cited in purchasing and requirements definitions so that engineering teams and contractors will build to the new vision.

Andrew Ginter is the Vice President of Industrial Security for Waterfall Security Solutions, former co-host and Chief Security Officer of Industrial Security Podcast, and the author of three books on OT security with over 20,000 copies in print. His latest is Engineering-grade OT Security – A Manager’s Guide.   
  
Mr. Ginter leads a team responsible for industrial cybersecurity research and contributions to industrial cybersecurity standards and regulations. Previous to Waterfall he had 25 years of experience managing the development of products for computer networking, industrial control systems and industrial cybersecurity for leading vendors including Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies and Industrial Defender.  
  
Andrew is a cybersecurity expert providing valuable insights to a whole spectrum of solutions from mechanical pressure relief valves to network engineering to conventional cybersecurity. Andrew holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and M.S. in Computer Science from University of Calgary.
