Sustainable drinking water/wastewater target of Australia/Vietnam MoU

The Australian Water Association (AWA) and the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Hanoi to address water related challenges.

The MoU outlines the Associations’ plans to work together in the areas of trade and business matching, education and training, as well as exploring joint projects to attract funding for the sustainable development of Vietnam’s water and wastewater infrastructure and services.

AWA was represented by chief executive, Jonathan McKeown, while chairman and general secretary, Tran Quang Hung, signed on behalf of VWSA.

AWA chief executive, Jonathan McKeown, said that many opportunities existed for Vietnam and Australia to collaborate in areas such as supply and demand planning, water quality risk management, asset management and network operation, climate change, governance and regulation.

“The purpose of the MOU is to foster closer economic cooperation and support Vietnam navigate through new extremes in climate and the associated impacts to the provision of safe, secure, sustainable and efficient water management solutions. The Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association will work with AWA to provide business introductions to our members and assist them in procuring business in Vietnam.”
