WASHINGTON, DC, June 16, 2011 -- The Greenville Water System (Greenville, SC) took first place at AWWA's annual "Best of the Best" Water Taste Test. Regional winners from water-tasting competitions across North America compete at the event, which was held at AWWA's Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE11) in Washington, DC.

The Greenville Water System serves 350,000 customers and gets most of its water from two large mountain watersheds located about 25 miles north and northwest of Greenville in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Two water utilities shared second place in the competition: Denver Water (Denver, CO) and Glencoe Water Utility (Glencoe, IL).
