LONDON, England - Pipe manufacturer, GPS PE Pipe Systems, has won two new contracts to supply a range of its PE pipe systems to Thames Water for major AMP6 schemes.

Worth £1 million, the contracts will see GPS supply PE pipe and fittings to both the utility’s New Malden and Axford schemes.

The New Malden scheme is a £5.5 million project to upgrade 200 year old water mains to reduce the risk of leaks and bursts, minimising interruptions to water supply for customers.

The installation will be completed using slip lining techniques, which will see 1.8km of 710mm GPS PE pipe fit into the existing pipe network, reducing the need to dig large trenches, minimising impact on the surrounding environment.

GPS will also be supplying the next phase of the £25 million Axford scheme, a major project to build an 18.2km pipeline to reduce the amount of water abstracted from the River Kennet.

Having provided a range of PE pipe and fittings to Phase One, GPS will now be providing 560mm Protecta-Line barrier pipe for installation under an industrial plant, in addition to 3.6km of standard 560mm PE pipe, for the second phase of the development.

Paul Russell, regional sales manager for GPS PE Pipe Systems, said: “These are two fantastic wins for us and testament to the successful projects we have delivered for Thames Water over the last decade.”
