Major flow monitoring program underway in Texas

WHEATON, IL, June 17, 2013 -- RJN Group, Inc. (RJN) is conducting a flow monitoring program for the city of Plano, Texas to determine the amount of Infiltration/Inflow (I/I) that is entering the city's Collection System.

The study areas where RJN's services will be performed are in the city's Indian Creek and Russell Creek Drainage Basins. Thirty-seven temporary flow meters and 10 rain gauges will be used to collect the wastewater flow rates during both dry and wet weather periods. The flow/rainfall monitoring will take place for at least 60 days, possibly 90 days, depending on the amount of wet weather flow that is obtained during the initial time period.

RJN will then project the I/I rates for each monitoring location for a selected design storm event. Thus prioritizing the sub-basins for additional investigations if excessive I/I is identified. Each flow meter is installed with telemetry giving RJN data analysts the opportunity to review the flow data on a real time basis to insure that all meters are accurately recording flows. The project is scheduled to conclude by August 2013.
