Federal lead service line regulations are seeing some milestones on the horizon.

The U.S. EPA’s deadline for Lead Service Line Inventory information is fast approaching, requiring submissions by October 16, 2024. In addition, EPA is developing the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI), with plans to finalize it before the inventory deadline.

To talk more about the improvements, Bob Crossen talked with Jeff Swertfeger, water quality superintendent of the Greater Cincinnati Water Works and regulatory chair for the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA’s) Water Utility Council.

In this video, Swertfeger describes what utilities should consider when finishing their Lead Service Line Inventories, and talks about the status of the LCRI and what utilities might anticipate.
