KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 11, 2003 -- Greg M. Graves, P.E., has been named President and Chief Operating Officer of Burns & McDonnell, effective January 1, 2003.
"I look forward to immersing myself into Burns & McDonnell's many service sectors," Graves said. "Burns & McDonnell's diversity is one of its strengths."
He will succeed CEO Dave Ruf upon Ruf's retirement on Dec. 31, 2003. Ruf turns 65 later this year, the mandatory retirement age for Burns & McDonnell officers. Graves becomes only the sixth president of the 105-year-old engineering firm.
"It is critical to have a leader of vision, integrity, and character at the helm," Ruf said. "Greg Graves posesses all these attributes, and when I retire at the end of 2003 I will leave knowing the firm will be in capable hands."
Graves most recently served as president of the firm's Energy Group. He joined Burns & McDonnell in 1980 upon graduation from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
