Karachi power desalination project nears launch

Negotiations with the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) for launching the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Co-generation Power Desalination Project are in the final stages and the groundbreaking ceremony will be held very soon.

"The project will provide three million gallons of water daily by converting saline sea water into potable water, besides yielding 85 megawatts of electricity," said Administrator DHA Brig Asif Ghazali while presiding over a meeting between the DHA management and a delegation of Defence Residents Society (DRS) at the DHA main office in Karachi. The meeting discussed residents' problems and viable suggested solutions.
