PA American Water launches millions in critical water pipeline upgrades

Pennsylvania American Water has announced the start of construction to replace critical water mains in two major regions to improve service reliability and improve fire protection for residents.

Aug. 20, 2015 -- Today, Pennsylvania American Water (PAW) announced the start of construction to replace critical water mains in two major regions to improve service reliability and improve fire protection for residents.

PAW will target approximately 12.5 miles of aging water main in Washington County and 4.5 miles of aging water main in the Mon Valley. Further, the cost of improvements is approximately $8 million for Washington County and $4 million for Mon Valley.

James Jericho, PAW's project manager, stated that these capital improvements are in addition to the company's pipeline upgrades earlier this year in the amount of approximately $822,000 for Washington County and $874,000 for Mon Valley.
