NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2005 -- Lilker Associates, a full-service, multidisciplinary mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) and technology engineering firm based in New York City, will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Sept. 22 with a party and an announcement by Bruce Lilker, founder and president of the firm, of the establishment of the Engineering with Vision scholarship at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. The scholarship will be awarded annually to qualified students in the fields of mechanical or electrical engineering. The Cooper Union is the only private, full-scholarship college in the United States dedicated exclusively to preparing students for the professions of engineering, art and architecture.
Lilker and Serge Budzyn, the firm's executive vice president, are both Cooper Union graduates. "We credit our success in large part to our education at The Cooper Union," says Lilker. "We want to honor this excellent educational institution with financial assistance for those who really need the support. Equally important, we want to do what we can to encourage young people to pursue careers in engineering and related professions."
Adds Budzyn, "Engineers are, more than ever, critical to the future of our country. I am proud to be in a position to help and encourage students who show interest in this field. This scholarship is a wonderful way not only to give something back, but also to help move us forward."
Licensed in many states and serving clients nationally, Lilker provides services for new and renovated commercial, institutional, retail, and luxury high-rise residential facilities. A separate, wholly owned subsidiary, Technology Solutions Group (TSG), serves IT cabling, audio/visual and security design needs. The firm also has a branch office in Melville, N.Y.
