NORTH ANDOVER, MA, June 20, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Watts Water Technologies Inc. announced that it has acquired the water softener business of Alamo Water Refiners, Inc. in an asset purchase transaction.

Annual revenue of Alamo's water softener business is about $13 million.

Watts Water Technologies' CEO Patrick S. O'Keefe commented, "The acquisition of the water softener business of Alamo Water Refiners represents our expansion in the water softening market. The products of Alamo are consistent with our theme of water quality and provide many synergistic opportunities when utilized in conjunction with our existing water filtration and water quality businesses. The acquisition of Alamo also expands our distribution presence into the southwestern markets. The combination of Alamo's softening line and Watts' existing water purification product line allows Watts to provide a comprehensive offering of water purification and filtration products."
San Antonio, Texas-based Alamo was acquired by the Marmon Group from the late founder Sonny Cammack, Ph.D., in August 2000. The Marmon Group is an international association of over 100 companies that operate independently within diverse business sectors. Collective revenues exceeded $6 billion in 2004. Marmon's Water Group includes Ecodyne, Graver and EcoWater.

Most commonly known for the Watts Regulator, other Watts acquisitions in recent years include Premier, Flowmatic, Hunter Innovations, Taizhou Shida Plumbing Manufacturing Co. (China), Precision Pipe Work, Ltd. (UK), and, most recently, Sea Tech and HF Scientific -- both of which were announced in January.

Watts Water Technologies Inc. (www.wattswater.com), based in North Andover, Mass., is a world leader in the manufacture of innovative products to control the efficiency, safety, and quality of water within residential, commercial, and institutional applications.
