South West Water (SWW) has successfully installed two 84m3 Camplas Supertanks in the sewage treatment works (STW) at Lanner St. Day and Porthtowan, Cornwall in the UK.

Hyder Consulting, recommended the tanks for the storage and treatment of sewage after SWW had a number of steel tanks coming to the end of their life. The Supertanks are said to have an estimated service life in excess of 30 years, which is attributed to the tanks having no joints and being resistant to corrosion.

Alastair Stevens from Hyder Consulting said:"They can also be used to decant liquid off at various stages, while collecting and thickening the sludge in the dished base. Thickening the sludge reduces the number of sludge removals off site, which in turn further brings costs down."
