Walter Lynch named president of American Water Services

American Water announced that Walter Lynch has been named President of American Water Services (AWS). In this role Lynch leads a company of 1,400 employees in the United States and Canada where AWS provides non-regulated business services by partnering with a variety of public and industrial entities.

VOORHEES, N.J., Nov. 25, 2003 -- American Water announced that Walter Lynch has been named President of American Water Services (AWS).

In this role Lynch leads a company of 1,400 employees in the United States and Canada where AWS provides non-regulated business services by partnering with a variety of public and industrial entities.

Following a restructuring of its business, AWS provides services throughout its multiple business lines, to include: operations and maintenance, residuals, underground infrastructure development, applied water management, engineering, carbon services, service line protection, military projects, and industrial operations.

In addition, the AWS headquarters will soon move from Marlton, New Jersey to the American Water Corporate Center in Voorhees, New Jersey. Lynch, who has been with American Water for three years, previously served as President of AWS' Southwest Region, located in Houston, TX.

Lynch has already involved AWS in a number of highly successful "public private partnerships," most notably with the City of Houston, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; Fort Sill, Oklahoma; and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Lynch has over 15 years experience in engineering, sales and marketing, operations and business development. As President for the Southwest Region of AWS, Lynch oversaw a multiple business line region covering 12 states. In this role, he directed the region's business activities, including operations and business development. Prior to joining American Water, Lynch was involved in a number of successful business opportunities with start-up and high growth organizations in the solid waste and residuals industries. In addition, he developed and managed RAM Environmentan. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering.
