Pittsburgh, PA April 28, 2003 -- SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings has completed an impressive schedule for SSPC 2003 The Industrial Protective Coatings Conference and Exhibit in New Orleans from October 26-29.
Highlights from the coatings event include keynote addresses from renowned figures from around the globe, a stellar technical program and a carnival atmosphere with numerous prize giveaways, including a Super Bowl XXXVIII package for two.
The conference, held in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, opens with a prominent list of speakers during the keynote session held on Monday of the conference. Scheduled to speak is Lieutenant General John B. Sylvester, the Chief of Staff for the United States European Command. Invited speakers are Don Evans, United States Secretary of Commerce, Mary E. Peters, Administrator for the Federal Highway Administration, and Cameron Findlay, Deputy Secretary for the Department of Labor.
The totally revised technical program will address information pertaining to virtually every type of substrate. Technical sessions include presentations on Coating and Surface Preparation as well as Marine, Bridge specialty segments, Tank, Air Barriers and all aspects of Concrete. A first at the conference will be major project presentations, consisting of presentations by numerous parties combining efforts to accomplish one task.
The subject matter for these major projects are the coating and lining of the largest tank in the United States (Martin Hill, Texas) as well as a complex highly refined approach to a major concrete flooring. Workshops featured at SSPC 2003 include Air Barriers, Acrylic Waterbourne Coatings, and Coatings Failure Analysis, to name a few.
Along with providing coatings knowledge, in the spirit of New Orleans SSPC has slated festivities to assure all conference attendees enjoy their visit to the Big Easy. The fun will be had by all attendees during the conference, climaxing Wednesday during the Wrap Up Party coinciding with the afternoon dedicated exhibit hours.
