Aug. 12, 2009 -- Balfour Beatty, the international engineering, construction, investment and services Group, announces today that it has been selected as an alliance partner for the delivery of South West Water's K5 capital program.
The total value of South West Water's proposed five-year capital program, which commences in April 2010, is £590 million, with Balfour Beatty's share likely to be in excess of £100 million.
Commenting on the alliance contract, Balfour Beatty Chief Executive, Ian Tyler, said: "We are delighted to have been selected to play a major role in South West Water's significant capital program. Our successful relationship with South West Water began in 1999 and we look forward to working in partnership over the next five years to deliver their program of works across Devon and Cornwall."
The alliance covers the delivery of South West Water's clean and wastewater capital maintenance and asset replacement program and includes both infrastructure work on treatment plants and networks.
Balfour Beatty's involvement will be led by its local business teams who have a proven track record of delivering water and wastewater projects in the South West, supported by the Group's extensive management capability in similar alliance arrangements.
Over the last two years, Balfour Beatty has secured over £1 billion of major utility contracts with customers including National Grid in the UK and the US and Transpower New Zealand.
